Medal was instituted on 7 June 2021.
Medal is awarded to military personnel and workers who have distinguished themselves through exemplary service in defending the country's independence, as well as those who actively participated in or made a personal contribution to the high-level organization of the ceremonial military parade dedicated to the anniversary dates of Turkmenistan's independence.
