• Medal is awarded to members of the Army who die directly in combat, or as a consequence thereof, or while performing a service mission, whether in a state of war or in comparable situations. Medal may also be awarded to law enforcement officers and to national civilians who, while performing a mission in service to the Army, die in combat or as a consequence thereof, in a state of war or in comparable situations.
