• Medal was instituted on 22 June 2004.
• Medal is awarded to peace officers who have completed at least 20 years of exemplary service protecting the safety and security of the Canadian public with one or more organizations.
• A bar, bearing a maple leaf in silver, is given for each additional 10 years served.
