• Medal was instituted on 12 December 1995 as the Medal for Valiant Ensuring Security of Elbasy. By Decree No. 155 of 30 September 2011, changes were made to the description of the medal.
• Medal was awarded to employees of the State Security Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan for exemplary performance of official duties and exemplary discipline.
• Medal is awarded in three classes: I class for 17 years of service, II class for 14 years, III class for 7 years.
