Defence Force General Service Medal

Medal was instituted on 16 October 1970.
Medal is awarded to officers and members of the Defence Force who have been engaged in military operations overseas or in other areas as may be specified by The Governor-General on the recommendation of the Chief of Defence Staff. A bar with the name of the theatre of operation may be added for any further award for general service and a rose on ribbon shall denote a bar.
