• Medal was instituted on 26 November 2020.
• Medal is awarded to members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan who, during the liberation of the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, independently or jointly with other branches of the armed forces, successfully completed combat missions to capture strategic or particularly important territories, and also demonstrated themselves in maintaining the combat capability of our troops, destroying the main enemy groups and equipment in the air and on the ground.
• Second Nagorno-Karabakh War - armed conflict in 2020 that took place in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
