• Medal was instituted on 26 November 2020.
• Medal is awarded to members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have demonstrated courage, bravery and selflessness in carrying out tasks in combat conditions and during special operations associated with a risk to life, as well as skillful, proactive and decisive actions that contributed to the successful completion of combat missions, as well as professionally leading a subordinate unit in the successful completion of combat missions.
• Second Nagorno-Karabakh War - armed conflict in 2020 that took place in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
