ESP010 Orden de la Beneficencia

Order was instituted by Queen Isabella II on 17 May 1856.
Order was awarded in recognition of the charity, solidarity, courage and valor in time of public calamities.
The order's insignia was modified in 1910, and four different distinction were created relating to the services: purple-black distinction was awarded in recognition of public health service rendered with the risk of life; purple-white distinction was awarded in recognition of meritorious acts relating to public health; black-white distinction was awarded in recognition of meritorious charitable acts rendered with the risk of life; white distinction was awarded in recognition of extraordinary services and charity.
Originally, the order was awarded in three classes: I Class, II Class, and III Class. The Grand Cross was added in 1910.
