ESP010 Orden de la Beneficencia
- Order was instituted by Queen Isabella II on 17 May 1856.
- Order was awarded in recognition of the charity, solidarity, courage and valor in time of public calamities.
- The order's insignia was modified in 1910, and four different distinction were created relating to the services: purple-black distinction was awarded in recognition of public health service rendered with the risk of life; purple-white distinction was awarded in recognition of meritorious acts relating to public health; black-white distinction was awarded in recognition of meritorious charitable acts rendered with the risk of life; white distinction was awarded in recognition of extraordinary services and charity.
- Originally, the order was awarded in three classes: I Class, II Class, and III Class. The Grand Cross was added in 1910.
