  • Order was instituted on 11 January 1927.
  • Order was awarded for services to the Latvian Red Cross society.
  • Initially, the order had one degree (type of badge with the date 11/18/1918 on the reverse). Later, the order had four degrees (the type of badge with the date 20.11.1918 on the reverse): the cross of honor of the Order of the Red Cross (worn on a neck ribbon); medal of honor (worn on a ribbon on the chest); a medal of merit (worn on a ribbon on the chest) and a badge of honor (worn on a lapel or buttonhole).
