• Order was instituted on 24 March 1950.
• Order is awarded to national and foreign doctors who render outstanding services to the country or who have a differentiated exercise in the profession or in the teaching of medicine or who are authors of relevant works for medical studies.
• Order is awarded in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
