Medal was instituted by Decree No.93.209 of 3 September 1986.
Medal is awarded to Army military personnel for relevant services in Amazonia military organizations.
Medal is awarded in three classes: gold bar with three chestnut trees - for ten years of service, silver bar with two chestnut trees - for five years of service and bronze bar with one chestnut tree - for two years of service.
