Medal instituted in 1939 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union.
Medal awarded to members of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union, who diligence and perseverance in the activities of the Union and other persons deserving of the Union.
Medal was reinstated in 1991. From 18 June 2003, the medal awarded by the Ministry of National Defence.
