• Medal was instituted on 15 July 1931.
• Medal was awarded to military personnel, Greek citizens, and foreigners who took part in the Macedonian Struggle.
• There are two types of the medal: I type with the "Greek Republic 1931" inscription on the reverce; II type with the "Kingdom of Greece 1936".
• Macedonian Struggle - was a series of social, political, cultural and military conflicts.
