- Decoration was awarded to non-commissioned officers for long and faithful service.
- Decoration was awarded in two classes: for 8 and for 16 years of service.
- There are five types of the decoration, depending on the reigning monarch.
- Type I - Frederick VII.
- Type II - Christian IX.
- Type III - Frederick VIII.
- Type IV - Christian X.
- Type V - Frederick IX.
