Medal was instituted on 28 December 2007.
Medal was awarded to servicemen on military service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus (with the exception of military servicemen of fixed-term military service), who have achieved high results in their official activities; veterans of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, officials of state bodies of the Republic of Belarus and other states, other persons who have made a great contribution to strengthening the defense capability of the Republic of Belarus and building the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
