Kossuth Érdemrend

• Order instituted on 25 February 1948.
• Order awarded to Hungarian and foreign citizens for outstanding services in the struggle for peace in the field of science and art.
• Order have three classes. On 6 September 1950, the Presidential Council of the People's Republic introduced some changes, so order have two types.
• Lajos Kossuth - a Hungarian nobleman, lawyer, journalist, politician, statesman and Governor-President of the Kingdom of Hungary during the revolution of 1848–49.
