Medal instituted in 2004.
Medal awarded to citizens of the Republic of Slovenia, groups of citizens, legal entities and other organizations, as well as foreign citizens and foreign and international organizations for especially remarkable achievements and results in the fields marking an important contribution to the development and international standing of the Republic of Slovenia.
Medal awarded in three categories: Medal of Merit in the civil field SVN004.1(trefoil without enamel in the center); Medal of Merit in the diplomatic and international field SVN004.2(trefoil with white enamel in the center); Medal of Merit in the military or security field SVN004.3(trefoil with the faceted garnet (blue enamel) in the center).
