  • Medal is awarded for good and loyal service to the country.
  • Medal is awarded in two classes: gold and silver. On rare occasions the gold medal has been awarded with a crown.
  • There are several types of the medal, depending on the reigning monarch.
  • Type I - Christian VIII. 10 gold medals and 6 silver medals were awarded.


  • Type II - Frederick VII. 53 gold medals and 20 silver medals were awarded.


  • Type III - Christian IX. 146 gold medals and 173 silver medals were awarded.


  • Type IV - Frederick VIII. 33 gold medals and 114 silver medals were awarded.


  • Type V - Christian X. 138 gold medals and 864 silver medals were awarded.


  • Type VI - Frederick IX.


  • Type VII - Margrethe II.
