  • Order founded by King George V on 4 June 1917.
  • Order awarded to citizens of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth for outstanding achievements in the arts, literature, music, science, politics, industry or religion.
  • There are three variations of the order that differ in the reverse inscription according to the reigning monarch of the period.
  • Members are entitled to use the post-nominal letters CH.
