Order of Merit
CMR002 Ordre du Mérite
- Order instituted on 24 April 1924 by Commissioner of the Republic of Cameroon under mandate of France as "Order for Merit native". The decree of 4 July 1946 changed the name to "Order of Merit of Cameroon". The Republic of Cameroon retain this order after independence with some modifications on the back of orders insignia.
- Order awarded for at least 12 years of public service.
- Order awarded in three classes: Commander, Officer and Knight.
- There are VI types of the order, depends on insignia inscription.
- CMR002.1 Type I - "TERRITOIRE DU CAMEROUN - MERITE INDIGENE" (1924).
- CMR002.2 Type II - "TERRITOIRE DU CAMEROUN - MERITE CAMEROUNAIS" (1946).
- CMR002.3 Type III - "ETAT DU CAMEROUN - MERITE CAMEROUNAIS" (1957).
- CMR002.4 Type IV - "REPUBLIQUE FEDERALE DU CAMEROUN - MERITE CAMEROUNAIS" (1961).
- CMR002.5 Type V - "REPUBLIQUE UNIE DU CAMEROUN - MERITE CAMEROUNAIS" (1972).
- CMR002.6 Type VI - "REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN - REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON - MERITE CAMEROUNAIS" (1984).
