Order instituted by King Mwambutsa IV on 1 July 1962 as Royal Order of Prince Rwagasore. Modified by the Republic in 1966.
Order awarded for services to the state, especially in attaining independence, promoting national unity and safeguarding the integrity of the nation.
Order have V classes.
