- Decoration instituted on 9 September 1833 by King William II.
- Decoration awarded to the military mans of the kingdom for their faithful service. Since 1839, military officials could also have been awarded.
- Decoration was awarded in two classes. The first class is for officers, for 25 years of faithful service. The second class is for soldiers, for 20 years of faithful service.
