• Medal was instituted in 1952.
• Medal is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves in the service of the monarch.
• Medal is awarded in five classes: I class is entierly set with diamonds; II class has red enamel cypher with surround set with diamonds; III class has royal cypher in gold with red enamel; IV class is silver with royal cypher in gold; V class is silver.
• Bhumibol Adulyadej - was the ninth monarch of Siam.
