CUB003 Orden José Martí

Order was instituted by Law No.1239 of 2 December 1972. The Order was ratified, with new design, by Decree-Law No.30 of 10 December 1979.
Order is awarded to Cuban and foreign citizens and to Heads of State or Government for great feats in favor of peace and humanity; for valuable and extraordinary contributions in education, culture, science and sport, as well as for extraordinary merits and outstanding attitudes in creative work.
There are two variations of the orders insignia.
José Martí - was a Cuban poet, philosopher, essayist.
