• Distinction was instituted by Decree-Law No.30 of 10 December 1979.
• Distinction is awarded to Cuban people in recognition of their accomplishments over twenty-five years or more in the sector of merchant marine, ports and fisheries, and for maintaining an exemplary and consistent attitude towards revolutionary principles.
• Aracelio Iglesias - was a participant of the trade union movement of Cuba.
