Decoration instituted by Decree No. 6.795 of 17 August 1944 and regulated by Decree No. 16.821 of 13 October 1944.
Decoration awarded to military personnel, regardless of rank, who performed individual acts of bravery or had made a personal sacrifce beyond the call of duty while engaging enemy forces (I class) and to soldiers and offcers who distinguished themselves in a collective action while in combat (II class).
Decoration awarded in two classes.
