Medal was instituted on 26 November 2020.
Medal is awarded to military personnel and civil servants of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan who took part in the Patriotic War for the liberation of the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan and contributed to the successful outcome of military operations, as well as employees and civil servants of the organization determined by the relevant executive authority who demonstrated selflessness on the front lines.
Second Nagorno-Karabakh War - armed conflict in 2020 that took place in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
