Medal was instituted on 11 May 1997.
Medal is awarded to those who have taken part in combat activities during the Great Patriotic War, to Labor veterans, who have actively participated in the military-patriotic education of the youth, generals, officers, sergeants and privates of the National Army of the Republic of Armenia who have had direct participation in combat activities during the protection of the ARM border.
