• Medal was instituted on 21 March 1971.
• Medal was awarded to Royal Saudi Air Force personnel for the performance of exemplary missions during military operations or in the line of duty whilst maintaining security and public safety, the performance of exemplary missions in support of Land Forces, destruction of enemy aircraft, or salvage of an aircraft either damaged in combat or through malfunction, for braving and service in the field of aviation or in support of the R.S.A.F. including during joint operations.
• Medal was awarded in three classes.
