Decoration (Desha Putra Sammanaya) was instituted in 1972.
Decoration is awarded to all ranks of the Army, Navy and Air Force who are wounded whilst on operation by enemy action and such injury is classified at least as ‘moderately severe’ by the medical authorities or are killed as a consequence of such injury of enemy action and are recommended by the Commander of the Army, the Commander of the Navy or the Commander of the Air Force to receive the award.
