Order of St. Michael
Orden zum Heiligen Michael
- Order was originally instituted in 1693, by the Elector Josef Clement, as an award for Catholics. The Order was revived on 16 February 1857 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria. The Order underwent various further statutory changes in 1855, 1887, 1894 and finally in 1910.
- Order awarded to honor devotion to the crown by both Bavarians and foreigners.
- Order have next classes: Grand Cross, I Class, II Class with Star, II Class, Cross of Honour, III Class, IV Class with Crown, Merit Cross with crown, Merit Cross, Silver Medal of Merit and Bronze Medal of Merit.
