Medal was instituted in 1819 by Duke Frederick Ferdinand.
Medal was awarded to the Anhalt-Köthen military personnel who took part in the campaigns against Napoleon from 1813 to 1815.
The reverse of the medal bears the one of the following dates: 1813, 1814, 1813/1814, 1815, 1813/1815, 1814/1815, 1813/1814/1815.
