- Decoration was instituted on 17 April 1894 by Duke Friedrich I in honor of the 56th birthday of Duchess Antoinette.
- Decoration was awarded to female servants who have rendered uninterrupted loyal service in the same family.
- Decoration was awarded in two classes: I class for 40 years of service; II class for 25 years of service.
- There are two variations of the decoration, with engraved crowned letter "A" on the reverse and with the plain reverse.
