Scharnhorst Order

GDR000 Scharnhorst-Orden

Order was instituted on 17 February 1966.
Order was awarded to members, units, associations and other bodies of the National People's Army, Border Troops, Civil Defense, Ministry of State Security for outstanding military services, for contributions to the protection of the GDR, and for strengthening the national defense of the GDR.
There are three types of insignia.
Gerhard von Scharnhorst - was a Hanoverian-born general.
