• Order is instituted on 3 August 1952.
• Order is awarded for services to the Air Force.
• Order is awarded in four classes.
• Order is awarded in three division: Combat Services - red ribbon with white centre stripe, Long Service - blue ribbon with white centre stripe, and other services - white ribbon with red centre stripe.
• The design of the order was changed after 1961.
