• Order was instituted by Decree-Law No.30 of 10 December 1979.
• Order is awarded to combatants from fronts, columns or units of the Rebel Army. In exceptional cases, it can be awarded to other people who have participated in a prominent way in the insurrectionary struggle. They must have maintained an exemplary attitude and consistent with revolutionary principles.
• Order is awarded in two classes.
