Medal was instituted in 2005.
Medal is awarded to soldier to reward the performance of service at a significant jubilee or at the end of service by dismissal after fulfilling the right to a retirement pension or old-age pension; for successful representation of the Slovak Republic or the Armed Forces; for extraordinary contribution to the development of Armed Forces; for achieving extraordinary results in the performance of official tasks.
Medal is awarded in three classes.
