Order of Prince Henry
PRT000 Ordem do Infante Dom Henrique
- Order was instituted on 2 June 1960, to commemorate the quincentenary of the death of the Portuguese prince Henry the Navigator.
- Order is awarded to national and foreign individuals for relevant services to Portugal and for services in the expansion of the Portuguese culture, its history and its values (with a particular focus on its maritime history).
- Order is awarded in six grades: Grand Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Honorably Member.
- Prince Henry the Navigator - was a central figure in the early days of the Portuguese Empire.
