Order was instituted by King Kamehameha V on 4 April 1865.
Order was awarded for outstanding services to Hawaii or to the Royal House.
Order was awarded in four grades: Collar, Knight Grand Cross, Knight Commander and Companion.
In 1893, the Orders of the Hawaiian royal dynasty ceased to exist due to the deposition of the monarchy.
Kamehameha V - reigned as the fifth monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi.
