• Medal was instituted on 30 September 2011. By Decree No. 377 of 14 September 2012, changes were made to the description of the medal.
• Medal is awarded to military personnel of the national security agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, that is, those serving in a special state body directly subordinate and accountable to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is an integral part of the security system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for positive results achieved in operational and service activities to ensure national security, conscientious performance of official duties, and impeccable military discipline.
• Medal is awarded in three classes: I class for 20 years of service, II class for 15 years, III class for 10 years.
