Medal was instituted by Decree No.466 of 25 April 2017.
Medal is awarded to servicemen of the Armed Forces for excellence in commanding troops and performing assigned tasks, during exercises, while on combat duty, in mastering new combat and special equipment, maintaining weapons and military equipment in a condition that ensures constant combat readiness, while performing special (operational) command tasks, in mobilization training, military-patriotic, pedagogical, scientific research, medical and other military (military-applied) activities, mastering a military specialty during compulsory military service, as well as to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a significant contribution to strengthening the defense capability and military security of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Medal is awarded in two classes: First Class – awarded to officers of the Armed Forces and citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who have made a significant contribution to strengthening the defense capability and military security of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Second Class – awarded to non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
