Medal for the Liberation of Southern Hungary

- Medal instituted on 4 September 1941 on the occasion of the return of the southern territories.
- At the end of World War I, Hungary lost almost three quarters of its territory, including many areas with a large Hungarian population. In 1941 Hungary joined the German invasion of Yugoslavia. As a reward, the regions of Backa and Baranja, formerly part of Hungary, but transferred to Yugoslavia in 1920, were returned to Hungary.
- Janos Hunyadi - was a leading Hungarian military and political figure in Central and Southeastern Europe during the 15th century.
