• Order instituted on 4 December 1992.
• Order awarded for bravery, selflessness, courage shown in the defense of the Republic of Abkhazia.
• On the first type, the position of the swords was pointed downwards. But later, by the Commission on Awards under the President of Abkhazia, it was recognized as inconsistent with the established heraldic canons, since the swords raised up are the symbol of victory.
• Leon II of Abkhazia - was King of Abkhazia.
